Foot traffic was excellent, and even though I didn’t make a large number of sales during the event itself, I left with valuable insights about my work and ended up selling pieces afterward. The event was exceptionally well-crafted—almost like a lively party—with a diverse crowd. Many attendees who didn’t expect to make purchases were drawn in by the quality of the work, which speaks volumes about the curation and atmosphere. The only drawback for me was the commission on sales, especially given the substantial participation fee. Still, overall, it was a professional and engaging experience that left a lasting impression.
I did three locations — Atwater Village, Santa Monica, and Culver City — and covered booth costs + generated profit at every single one. The model works great: no galleries, no middlemen, great experience design, artists selling directly to collectors. Staff made rounds and checked in throughout the event. Real press coverage brought in new audiences. Sales can be unpredictable show to show — one show with steady sales each day, another show everything happened in the last hour of each last day — but across all three shows the ROI was consistently positive. The community of artists you meet at these shows is worth as much as the sales. Would return without hesitation.
